The Harriett Buhai Center’s Pro Bono Panel offers the opportunity to give back to the community while gaining valuable experience and honing legal skills for CFLS certification and/or building a practice. Lawyers are offered opportunities to represent the Center’s clients in court and handle cases through judgment or settlement, either on their own or with the help of a mentor. The Panel is in need of dedicated members who practice family law full-time.

Pro bono attorneys will find appreciative clients, support from the Center’s staff and volunteers, and cases that both present interesting and challenging issues and are capable of resolution within a finite period of time. The Center carefully screens, prepares and selects the cases for pro bono counsel before the referral is made. The exposure to individuals living threadbare existences, the ability to help them and the results of the experience are gratifying and remind lawyers why they chose the profession in the first place.
